Himachal Bill Proposes Lower Property Stamp Duty for Women

Himachal Bill Proposes Lower Property Stamp Duty for Women

The Himachal Pradesh government wants to change the rules for buying and transferring property.

A new bill would make the rules simpler and replace an old list of charges.

Women buying or receiving certain properties would pay a lower stamp duty on properties worth up to Rs 1 crore.

Men and others would have different rates based on the property value.

Moving property between close family members would become much cheaper.

Some transactions involving special permission to acquire land would still have a 12% duty.

Affidavits made at tehsil offices would need a Rs 100 stamp.

Adoption deeds would cost Rs 2,000 under the proposed rules.
