Speeding Bus Plunges Off Culvert Near Anantapur, Injuring 20

Early one Sunday morning, a big bus crashed on a busy highway in India.

The bus hit another vehicle and both went off the road, falling from a structure called a culvert.

The accident happened near a small village called Pogarru, in an area called Anantapur.

Many people were hurt, but the news reports do not agree on exactly how many.

One report says twenty passengers were hurt, and another says eighteen passengers and the drivers were hurt.

People driving on the same highway saw the crash and quickly called the police.

The police came and took the hurt people to a hospital.

Some drivers were stuck inside the vehicles, so police and local people worked together to rescue them.

The police think the crash may have happened because the driver was going too fast or was sleepy.
