Scotch whisky prices fall in India after trade agreement

Scotch whisky has become cheaper in parts of India.

Some bottles from Johnnie Walker and J&B now cost about 10-15% less.

The price cuts followed a trade agreement between India and the United Kingdom.

This agreement reduced the tax charged when British whisky enters India.

The tax was cut from 150% to 75%.

Prices are not falling by exactly the same amount because states add their own taxes and fees.

Shops and companies also affect the final price.

More states may reduce prices later.

Cheaper imported whisky could create more competition for Indian whisky brands.
