UWA Secures UGC Approval for Mumbai Campus, September Intake
The University of Western Australia is opening a new campus in Mumbai.
India’s University Grants Commission has approved the plan.
This means the university can move closer to starting classes there.
The first students are expected to arrive in September, but the year was not stated.
Before classes, students will attend orientation to learn how the campus works.
They will also take part in AI Jumpstart, which introduces artificial intelligence and its uses.
The campus will let students study an Australian university programme while staying in India.
University leaders say students will build skills and connections with people, companies and communities.
The University of Western Australia received a Letter of Approval from India’s University Grants Commission to establish a Mumbai branch campus.
The approval clears the way for UWA Mumbai to welcome its first student cohort in September, although the year is not specified.
Students will receive orientation to help them understand the campus, facilities, faculty, peers and learning environment.
An AI Jumpstart programme will introduce students to artificial intelligence and its applications before classes begin.
UWA says the campus will combine its academic standards and global outlook with educational and industry opportunities in India.
