Delhi Airport T3 to Increase International Capacity by December 2025
Delhi's main airport, called T3, is getting ready to welcome a lot more international travelers.
Right now, it can handle about 20 million international passengers each year, but by the end of 2025, it will be able to handle over 32 million!
They are doing this by changing one part of the terminal, called Pier C, from a place for local flights to one for international flights.
Meanwhile, another part of the airport, T2, which is older, has been updated and is now open again.
Some airlines like IndiGo and Air India have moved many of their domestic flights to this updated T2.
This is all part of a plan to make Delhi's airport a big connection point, like airports in Dubai or Singapore, so that people traveling from India don't have to stop in other countries as much for their long trips.
Delhi Airport is set to increase Terminal 3's international passenger handling capacity to over 30 million per annum by December 2025.
Pier C of Terminal 3 will be converted from domestic to international to accommodate rising international traffic.
The upgraded Terminal 2 (T2) has reopened, with IndiGo and Air India relocating approximately 120 daily domestic flights there.
The move aims to optimize flight operations, enhance passenger convenience, and position IGIA as a major international hub.
This strategic conversion seeks to make Indian airports competitive with international hubs in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
