Maruti Suzuki Plans Upgrade of 31 ITIs to JIM Standards

Maruti Suzuki wants to improve 31 vocational training schools in India.

It plans to spend nearly Rs 100 crore over two years.

The schools will follow the standards used by Japan-India Institutes for Manufacturing, or JIMs.

Students will learn skills that car factories need, such as welding, electrical work and painting.

They will also practice finding and preventing defects in products.

JIM students get seven months of workplace training instead of the usual three months.

They can train at Maruti, supplier and dealer facilities and receive stipends.

Maruti also wants more women to join its JIM at Manesar by 2028-29.
