14.2 lakh MGNREGA workers dropped in Andhra Pradesh
In Andhra Pradesh, a lot of workers who were part of the MGNREGA program were removed during a process called e-KYC.
This happened over six weeks and resulted in 14.20 lakh workers being dropped.
The total number of workers went from 124.70 lakh to 110.50 lakh.
Some districts saw even bigger drops, like Annamayya with a 27% decrease.
The state did well in completing the e-KYC process, but many workers were removed without proper checks.
This happened because of strict deadlines and issues like poor internet and problems with Aadhaar.
The organization LibTech India suggests that the government should stop making e-KYC mandatory, bring back the removed workers, and talk to them and other groups to fix the problem.
14.20 lakh MGNREGA workers dropped in Andhra Pradesh during e-KYC drive, an 11.40% reduction in 42 days.
Total workers fell from 124.70 lakh to 110.50 lakh, with active workers declining by 6.20 lakh (6.40%).
Districts like Annamayya saw the steepest fall at 27%, followed by Kakinada at 25%, and Tirupati at 20%.
Andhra Pradesh achieved 79% e-KYC completion for total workers and 86% for active workers, topping national performance.
Systemic barriers included peak migration, weak network connectivity, biometric authentication failures, and incorrect Aadhaar seeding.
