Rupee Trading Reports Diverge as Oil and Tensions Weigh

The rupee is India’s money, and its value is compared with the US dollar.

On Wednesday, it moved only a little, trading between 95.72 and 95.76 rupees per dollar.

Two reports said it finished at 95.73, while another said it finished at 95.76.

This difference may reflect separate or provisional market reports.

More expensive oil made it harder for the rupee to strengthen.

Tensions in West Asia also made investors nervous.

Possible support from the Reserve Bank of India and foreign investors helped limit the rupee’s movement.

Indian shares fell, while traders watched global markets for further clues.
