Sophie Molineux will be the new captain of the Australian women's cricket team for the T20 series against India.

Alyssa Healy, who is retiring after this series, will lead the team in the ODIs and the one-off Test.

Tahlia McGrath will be the vice-captain, and Ashleigh Gardner will be the second deputy.

Molineux was chosen for her successful leadership with the Melbourne Renegades in the Women's Big Bash League.

She hasn't played a T20I or Test since 2024 due to a knee injury but was backed by the national selector.

The series includes three T20 matches, three ODIs, and one Test match.
