Ashoka University Students Locked Out During Winter Break
Some students at Ashoka University in Sonipat were not allowed to stay in their hostels during the winter break.
They said they were not told in advance about this new rule.
One student from Uttar Pradesh had to leave her hostel and was only allowed to stay in another place if she paid more money.
Another student from Karnataka was also locked out and had to wait outside in the cold.
The university said that only students with special permission can stay on campus during the break for safety reasons.
The students feel this is unfair because they have always been allowed to stay before.
Ashoka University students were denied hostel access during the winter break due to a new 'Residence Life' policy.
Students claim they were not properly informed about the policy change and had to leave their hostels with short notice.
One student from Uttar Pradesh was told she could stay in off-campus housing only if she paid extra, which was later waived.
Another student from Karnataka was locked out and had to wait outside in cold conditions before his access was restored.
The university stated that access is restricted during the break for security and logistical reasons, and only students with prior approval can stay on campus.
