Unity Mall Construction Halted in Mysuru
The construction of a new Unity Mall in Mysuru, India, has been stopped.
A woman named Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, who is part of the old royal family of Mysuru, says that the land where the mall is being built belongs to her family.
The court has ordered that no more work should be done on the mall until this is sorted out.
The mall was supposed to be a special place to sell things like handicrafts, silk, and famous foods from Mysuru.
It was also going to have fun things like a wrestling area and a sky walk.
The government had planned to finish it by 2027, but now it's not clear when that will happen.
Construction of Unity Mall in Mysuru halted due to land claim by Pramoda Devi Wadiyar.
Karnataka High Court ordered status quo on November 28 after her petition.
Pramoda Devi claims 6.5 acres are part of her family's hereditary property.
Project includes wrestling pavilion, sky walk, 3D theatres, and marketplace for local products.
Union Government sanctioned similar malls in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.
