UN Predicts 55% Chance of La Nina
The UN weather agency says there's a 55% chance of something called La Nina happening this winter.
La Nina is like a big cool-down in the Pacific Ocean that can change weather all over the world.
It usually makes the Earth a bit cooler, but some places might still be warmer than usual.
La Nina is the opposite of El Nino, which can make India's monsoon weaker and cause droughts.
The weather experts also say that after La Nina, things might go back to normal, and there's a low chance of El Nino happening.
They look at other weather patterns too, not just La Nina, to make their predictions.
There is a 55% chance of a weak La Nina affecting global weather patterns from December 2025 to February 2026.
La Nina typically brings a temporary cooling effect on global average temperatures.
Many regions may still experience warmer-than-normal conditions despite La Nina.
La Nina is part of the El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) cycle and is linked to changes in tropical winds, pressure, and rainfall.
The probability of ENSO-neutral conditions rises to 65-75% from January to April 2026, with a low likelihood of El Nino.
