Brewing Trouble: Coffee Can Ease or Trigger Migraine, Experts Say

Coffee has caffeine, and caffeine can do different things to different people's heads.

For some people, a little coffee can make a certain kind of headache called a migraine go away, because caffeine blocks a brain chemical that sends pain signals.

But drinking too much coffee, or drinking different amounts every day, can give other people headaches.

If you drink coffee every day and then suddenly stop, you can get a withdrawal headache within about a day.

That headache can come with feeling tired, grumpy, sleepy, and unable to focus.

Doctors say a moderate amount - about two or three cups of coffee a day - is usually safe for most adults.

However, the same amount that helps one person might hurt another person.

The most important thing is to be steady and not drink too much caffeine.

So coffee is neither a magic cure nor a villain - it depends on the person and how much they drink.
