Trump Plans Kim Meeting, Cites North Korea’s 57 Nuclear Weapons

Donald Trump says he wants to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un later in 2026.

This would be their first meeting since Trump began his second term.

Trump says North Korea has 57 very powerful nuclear weapons.

He did not explain how he arrived at that number.

Another research group estimated that North Korea had about 60 assembled warheads and enough material to make at least 30 more.

Trump says he gets along well with Kim and believes talking can be useful.

He also ordered fewer United States military exercises with South Korea.

Kim’s sister said she did not know about recent messages between the leaders but called their relationship excellent.

The two leaders previously met three times, though those talks did not end the disagreement over North Korea’s nuclear weapons.
