TCS Trims Q1 Variable Pay Amid Margin and AI Pressures

TCS Trims Q1 Variable Pay Amid Margin and AI Pressures

Tata Consultancy Services gives employees extra pay based partly on company performance.

For the April-June quarter, mid- and senior-level employees reportedly received 60-70% of the extra pay they could have earned.

Junior employees reportedly received the full amount.

The payout was lower than in the two quarters before it, when it reached as high as 80%.

However, it was higher than the 20-40% payouts reported for much of the earlier period.

The change came while TCS faced pressure on its profit margin and continued investing in artificial intelligence.

TCS also links some variable pay to how often employees work from the office.

Separately, TCS plans to create a team of thousands of engineers who work closely with customers.
