Kerala Road Crash Kills Eight Students, Safety Concerns Mount

Eight engineering students from Tamil Nadu died in a late-night road crash in Kerala.

Their car hit a truck that was standing on National Highway 66.

Five students reportedly died immediately, and the others died later.

The college said the students had planned the trip without telling college officials.

The highway authority said the car was going too fast and that safety signs were available.

Local residents said parked trucks and poor road conditions may also have made the crash more dangerous.

They mentioned weak lighting, no speed breakers and confusing direction boards.

A minister said the truck-parking allegations would be investigated.

Police are still examining what caused the crash.
