MMRDA Plans Two More Ring Roads Across Mumbai Region

MMRDA Plans Two More Ring Roads Across Mumbai Region

Mumbai’s road authority wants to create two more large driving loops.

Together, the loops would cover about 307 kilometres.

The eighth loop would connect Thane and Navi Mumbai through Sewri and Chirle.

The ninth loop would connect South Mumbai, the western suburbs, Borivali and Thane.

These routes would use some roads that already exist and some that are being built.

The goal is to give long-distance traffic ways to go around crowded inner roads.

Drivers may have to use limited entrances and pay tolls on some sections.

The authority hopes both loops will work fully by 2029, but several connections still need to be completed and designed.
