Modi Video Row: Meta's India 'Safe Harbour' Status Under Threat

Something strange happened on a big website called Facebook.

A video of India's leader, Narendra Modi, suddenly disappeared in the middle of the night.

It was gone for about five hours before it came back.

The company that owns Facebook, called Meta, said it was just a mistake and put the video back.

But the Indian government did not believe it was an accident.

It said taking down the leader's video was an attack on democratic institutions.

The government also said Meta has other problems, like harmful content on Instagram, fake pictures made by computers, and fake videos that trick people.

One fake video was so serious that police in Telangana opened a case about it.

Top people at Meta said sorry, including the company's boss, Mark Zuckerberg.

Now people are asking whether Facebook will keep special legal protection in India.
