Darekar Seeks Authority Role in Mumbai Redevelopment Portal
Mumbai is planning a digital portal to help with redevelopment projects.
MLA Pravin Darekar has asked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to give the Self/Group Redevelopment Authority an important role in running it.
Darekar says housing societies need help with more than building permits.
They may also need guidance on whether a project is workable, how to fund it, and what steps to follow.
He wants government agencies to coordinate and share information through the portal.
He also proposed a committee to help design the portal.
A special section could explain self-redevelopment and show funding options and approval progress.
Darekar wants experts and other stakeholders consulted before the portal is tested.
Pravin Darekar asked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to make the Maharashtra Housing Self/Group Redevelopment Authority a state-level coordinator and chief partner for the proposed BMC portal.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is developing an AI- and GIS-based platform to streamline and increase transparency in urban redevelopment.
Darekar said self and group redevelopment requires support with decision-making, finance, legal matters, and technical feasibility, not only construction approvals.
He stressed coordination among the BMC, MHADA, SRA, and MMRDA to track approvals and share data.
His proposals include a joint committee, a dedicated self-redevelopment section, and consultations before a pilot rollout.
