Delhi HC Seeks CBI Reply on Lalu Yadav's Plea
The Delhi High Court has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to respond to a request made by Lalu Prasad Yadav, a former Railway Minister.
Yadav is asking the court to stop a lower court's decision that said he and his family might have done something wrong in a case about hotels.
The case is about some hotels that were given to certain people in exchange for favors when Yadav was the Railway Minister.
The court will decide later whether to stop the case or not.
Yadav's family, including his wife and son, are also involved in this case.
The next meeting to talk about this will be on January 14.
The court said it cannot make a decision without hearing from the CBI first.
Delhi High Court issued a notice to the CBI regarding Lalu Prasad Yadav's plea against the framing of charges in the IRCTC hotel scam case.
Yadav challenged the trial court's decision to frame corruption and criminal conspiracy charges against him and his family members.
The court has not granted a stay on the trial court's order and has listed the matter for hearing on January 14.
The case involves alleged irregularities in the award of tenders by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) between 2004 and 2014.
The CBI alleges that Yadav abused his official position to manipulate eligibility conditions in a land tender process, resulting in substantial loss to the public exchequer.
