EPFO Warns Against Improper Provident Fund Withdrawals
The EPFO, which manages retirement funds, is reminding people to be careful when they take money out of their PF accounts.
You're usually allowed to withdraw money after you retire or for certain reasons like getting married, education, or dealing with serious illness.
But if you take money out for a reason that's not allowed or misuse the funds, the EPFO can ask for it back and also charge extra fees.
They also explain how to make claims online if you meet specific requirements.
In June 2025, the limit for automatic withdrawals for smaller needs was raised, making it easier to access funds without visiting the EPFO office.
EPFO warns subscribers against incorrect PF withdrawals.
Misusing funds can lead to recovery, interest, and penalties.
Withdrawals allowed for marriage, education, illness, housing, and retirement.
Online claims can be filed via the UAN portal.
Auto-settlement limit increased to Rs 5 lakh in June 2025.
