POWERGRID Wins Gujarat Project to Integrate 7,500 MW Renewables

POWERGRID has won a large electricity-transmission project in Gujarat.

The project will help move renewable electricity from the Lakadia Renewable Energy Zone to the wider grid.

It is designed to handle 7,500 megawatts of power.

POWERGRID offered to do the work for annual transmission charges of ₹1,152.49 crore.

The company received an official Letter of Intent on September 3, 2026.

It will build and operate the equipment before transferring it under the agreed terms.

The work includes a new Lakadia-II substation and long transmission lines.

A synchronous condenser will also help keep the electricity grid stable.

The company has not announced the project’s total cost or completion date.
