World Lion Day Marked At Nehru Zoo With Conservation Talks

World Lion Day Marked At Nehru Zoo With Conservation Talks

Every year on August 10, people around the world celebrate World Lion Day to remember these big cats.

At the Nehru Zoo in Hyderabad, India, animal keepers gave special talks on this day.

They told visitors how wild lion numbers are going down and why lions need protection.

The keepers also talked about lion behaviour, feeding schedules, vaccinations, and breeding programmes.

The zoo cares for two kinds of lions: Asiatic lions and African lions.

These two types live in separate enclosures.

In 1974, the zoo started the first lion safari park in the country.

The safari covers 45 acres of land.

Visitors stay safe inside enclosures while the lions move freely.

The zoo's Deputy Curator thanked everyone who joined and helped make the event a success.
