NMC Directs Hospitals to Stock Anti-Rabies Vaccine
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has told all government hospitals to always have anti-rabies vaccines and special medicines ready.
This is because there have been more dog bites, and the Supreme Court has ordered that schools, hospitals, and other places must keep stray dogs out.
The places have to put up fences and walls to stop dogs from coming in.
They also have to pick a person to make sure the area is clean and safe from dogs.
If a stray dog is found, it should be taken away, given medicine, and not brought back to the same place.
The leaders of each state and some big organizations have to promise they will follow these rules.
NMC directs all government hospitals to maintain mandatory stocks of anti-rabies vaccine (ARV) and rabies immunoglobulin (RIG).
Supreme Court orders prevention of stray dog entry into institutional premises, including hospitals, schools, and sports complexes.
Institutions must identify and secure their premises within two weeks and install structural safeguards within eight weeks.
Each institution must designate a nodal officer responsible for cleanliness, prevention of dog entry, and coordination with municipal authorities.
Stray dogs found inside must be removed, sterilized, vaccinated, and not returned to the same location.
