Tamil Nadu Temple Showcases Ganesha’s Rare Human-Faced Form

Most pictures of Ganesha show him with an elephant head.

At the Adi Vinayaka Temple in Tamil Nadu, he is worshipped in a rare form with a human face.

This form is called Adi Vinayaka or Nara Mukha Vinayaka.

People believe it represents Ganesha before Shiva gave him an elephant head.

The temple is also connected by local tradition to Rama and his father, King Dasharatha.

Many visitors come to perform rituals for ancestors.

The temple also honors Shiva and Goddess Saraswati.

This makes the shrine special to people interested in Hindu traditions and worship.
