NIBM Residents Create Pune’s Third Green Lung
In Pune, residents and the Forest Department are working together to create a new green space called a Miyawaki forest.
This special type of forest uses a method where many different plants are planted very close together, which helps them grow quickly and become very dense.
The project started with small trials and has now grown to include 30,000 saplings.
Volunteers help take care of the plants by watering them and organizing their schedules.
They hope that in a few years, this area will become a beautiful forest that improves the air quality and environment for everyone in the NIBM area.
Residents and the Forest Department are creating a Miyawaki forest in Pune's NIBM area.
The project involves planting 30,000 saplings using a Japanese afforestation technique.
Volunteers play a crucial role in maintaining the saplings and organizing watering schedules.
The initiative aims to restore urban ecology and create a green lung in Pune.
The project has grown into a community movement with active participation from local residents.
