Uzbekistani Woman Detained at India-Nepal Border Without Visa
Imagine a person from Uzbekistan tried to visit India.
She had a passport but no special permission, called a visa, to enter India.
She was caught by border guards when she tried to cross from Nepal into India.
This wasn't her first time trying to enter India; she had been sent back home earlier in the year.
Indian authorities had also put her on a list so she couldn't come back.
Even though she knew she wasn't supposed to enter, she tried again through a different border crossing.
Now, the police are investigating and will decide what happens next.
An Uzbekistani woman, Ummida Joirava (36), was apprehended at the Sonauli border while attempting to enter India from Nepal.
She was found to possess a valid passport but lacked the necessary Indian visa for entry.
Joirava had previously been deported from India on February 22 and had an active Lookout Circular against her.
She admitted to illegally entering India on April 22 after her deportation.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing by Sonauli Police.
