Wrestler Jaskaran faces ban extension for competing during ineligibility
Jaskaran Singh, an Indian wrestler, is in trouble for competing in a tournament while he was supposed to be banned.
He was originally banned for three years because he tested positive for a banned substance called Ligandrol.
Even though he was banned, he competed in the Takhti Cup 2025 in Iran and won a gold medal.
The International Testing Agency (ITA) found out and said he broke the rules.
Now, the ITA wants to extend his ban.
Jaskaran has to explain himself by January 16, 2026, or his ban might get longer.
If he doesn't respond, he could automatically get an extra ban added to his current one.
Jaskaran Singh is serving a three-year ban from July 2023 to July 2026 for testing positive for Ligandrol.
He competed in the Takhti Cup 2025 in Iran during his ineligibility period, winning a gold medal.
The ITA issued a formal notice for violating UWW Anti-Doping Rules by participating in a competition during his ban.
He faces an extension of his ban equal to the original period if found guilty.
Jaskaran has until January 16, 2026, to respond to the ITA's notice or face automatic extension of his ban.
