APSPDCL to Install EV Charging Stations, Pilot Smart Meters
The electricity company in southern Andhra Pradesh, APSPDCL, wants to put in special charging spots for electric cars along the big roads called national highways.
They are also testing new smart electricity meters in a small number of homes first, belonging to their own employees.
This is to check if these meters work well, like how their payment and alert systems function, before they offer them to regular customers.
The company's leader also told employees to install smart meters faster for some of the main power lines and equipment.
This helps them keep a better eye on the electricity and reduce waste.
They will also look into other places to put the EV chargers, like government buildings or hospitals.
APSPDCL plans to establish EV charging stations on national highways.
A pilot project will test prepaid smart meters in 100 employee households per district.
The company will study the performance of smart meters, including payment and alert systems.
Officials are directed to accelerate the installation of smart meters for 11 KV feeders and transformers.
APSPDCL will investigate suitable locations for EV chargers, including government premises and hospitals.
