Bombay HC Dismisses Plea to Reopen Rape Case Against Sajjan Jindal
A woman tried to reopen a case against a powerful businessman, Sajjan Jindal, for rape and criminal intimidation.
The police had already closed the case because they found no evidence and the woman initially said she didn't want to pursue it.
The Bombay High Court agreed with the police and said the woman made her own choices in her relationship with Jindal.
The court also said the police did their job properly and found no reason to reopen the case.
So, the court dismissed the woman's request to reopen the case.
The Bombay High Court dismissed a plea to reopen a rape and criminal intimidation case against JSW Group chairman Sajjan Jindal.
The petitioner, a 32-year-old woman, challenged a magistrate's order that accepted the police's closure report.
The court upheld the police's findings, stating there was no supporting evidence and the complainant did not contest the case.
The police closure report mentioned the complainant's delay in filing the complaint and her absence during the recording of her statement.
The court noted that the complainant, a medical professional, had made a conscious choice in her relationship with Jindal and found no basis for reinvestigation.
