Pablo Garcia Leaves Real Betis for Racing Santander Transfer
Pablo Garcia grew up playing for Real Betis after joining its academy at age six.
He played for every youth team and became a Spain Under-19 international.
However, he did not get many chances to start for Betis’ senior team.
He made most of his appearances as a substitute last season.
Garcia decided to leave so he could play more regular senior football.
Racing Santander signed him on the final day of the transfer window.
The deal was worth about €5 million, with Betis keeping some rights if he is sold later.
Garcia was emotional when he left but said he hoped to return to Betis someday.
The 20-year-old forward completed a deadline-day move from Real Betis to Racing Santander.
Garcia joined Betis’ academy at six and spent 14 years with the club.
He made 25 appearances last season, mostly as a substitute, and scored twice.
Racing Santander agreed to pay about €5 million, while Betis retained a 50% sell-on clause and first refusal.
Garcia said he hoped to return to Betis, which is preparing for its first Champions League campaign in two decades.
