Sunil Mane Granted Bail in Antilia Terror Scare Case
A police officer named Sunil Mane, who was fired, was given permission to leave jail while he waits for his trial.
The Supreme Court made this decision because he had been in jail for over four years and the trial hadn't started.
He was arrested because of a case involving a bomb scare near a rich businessman's house and the death of a man named Mansukh Hiren.
Mane is accused of being involved in a meeting where the murder of Hiren was planned, but he denies the accusations.
The court told Mane he must help with the trial and follow the rules of his bail, or he could be sent back to jail.
The Supreme Court granted bail to dismissed Mumbai police inspector Sunil Mane.
Mane was arrested in April 2021 in connection with the Antilia terror scare and the murder of Mansukh Hiren.
The court noted Mane had spent over four-and-a-half years in custody without trial.
Mane's lawyers will approach the Mumbai trial court to finalize bail conditions.
Mane was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
