Navi Mumbai Airport Set to Open: Key Details and Plans
Imagine a brand-new, giant airport is being built near Mumbai, India, called Navi Mumbai International Airport.
It's almost finished and is set to start small in September 2025.
To make sure everything runs smoothly, the government is hiring lots of immigration officers and setting up a special police station.
This airport will have big runways and terminals to handle many passengers and cargo.
It will take some of the air traffic from the older Mumbai airport, making travel easier.
The plan is to start with a few flights each day and grow from there, bringing jobs and boosting the area.
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is scheduled to open with limited operations in September 2025.
The Maharashtra Home Department approved 285 immigration officers for the airport.
A dedicated police station with approximately 300 personnel will be established for law and order.
The airport will feature four terminals, two runways, and a cargo terminal, aiming to handle 90 million passengers.
In the initial phase, NMIA is expected to manage 30 domestic flights daily, with traffic officers deployed.
