India Signs Rs 292 Crore Deal for Javelin Missiles

India has agreed to buy about 60 Javelin missiles from the United States.

These missiles are designed to destroy tanks and other armored vehicles.

The deal will cost about Rs 292 crore.

The purchase was made quickly under special emergency rules for the armed forces.

The Army wants to strengthen its anti-tank capabilities after Operation Sindoor.

Javelin missiles can guide themselves after being aimed at a target.

They can also attack a tank from above, where its armor is thinner.

Deliveries are expected to start in fiscal 2026-27.

The deal may eventually help India make these missiles locally with US companies.
