Russia Reopens Krasnodar Airport, Resumes Domestic Flights
For the first time in over three years, Russia has restarted flights to the city of Krasnodar.
This is a big deal because the airport had been closed due to safety concerns linked to the war in Ukraine.
The first flight from Moscow took about 3.5 hours.
The decision to reopen was made after authorities checked how safe it would be.
Flights will now take a different route, adding some extra time due to airspace restrictions.
People who live in Krasnodar and regularly travel to Moscow are very happy, as flights provide a quicker way of getting to their destinations.
Russia resumed domestic passenger flights to Krasnodar on Wednesday.
The airport was closed for more than three years due to the war in Ukraine.
The flight from Moscow took about 3.5 hours, longer than pre-war flights.
Aeroflot will operate multiple daily flights from Moscow and other cities.
The decision to reopen was based on a safety evaluation by Rosaviatsiya.
