Parag Milk Foods Fined Rs 6.14 Lakh Over Product Quality Lapses
A company that makes popular dairy products like Gowardhan ghee and Go cheese has been fined by the food safety police in India.
They were fined a total of about 6 lakh rupees because some of their products didn't meet the quality rules.
Even though the products were safe to eat, they weren't quite up to the required standard.
The company said this doesn't affect their business much and they might challenge the decision.
The food safety authority is checking more food companies lately to make sure they are honest about what's on their labels.
Parag Milk Foods, known for brands like Gowardhan and Go, has been fined Rs 6.14 lakh by FSSAI.
The fines were imposed by FSSAI's Udaipur (Rs 1.14 lakh) and Lunawada (Rs 5 lakh) divisions.
The company was penalized for product quality falling below prescribed standards, despite being fit for consumption.
Parag Milk Foods stated the penalties are not material to its operations and it reserves the right to appeal.
The FSSAI has been increasing scrutiny on packaged food companies and warned against misleading '100%' purity claims.
