Dalit Man Killed in Karnal; Gang's Claim Under Police Scrutiny
Something very sad happened in a town called Karnal in India.
A 28-year-old man named Veeru, who belonged to the Dalit community, was riding his scooter near a shop.
Two people on a motorcycle came and fired shots at him from very close.
He was taken to the hospital quickly, but the doctors could not save his life.
Later, a group called the Himanshu Bhau gang wrote on social media that they did it.
They said Veeru had said mean things online.
The police are not sure if that post is true and are still checking.
Police found a used bullet shell and camera videos from the area to help their investigation.
Veeru's family says he had been in an online argument for a few months, and police have registered a case against seven people.
Veeru's family and community leaders are now asking for justice.
A 28-year-old Dalit man, Veeru Valmiki, alias Vishu, was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne assailants in Karnal, Haryana.
The Himanshu Bhau gang claimed responsibility in a social media post, alleging the victim had made provocative remarks online; authorities have not verified the claim.
Police recovered a spent cartridge case and CCTV footage from the scene and are examining all angles, including a possible old rivalry.
