Delhi Launches 100 Atal Canteens
The Delhi government is opening 100 new canteens called Atal Canteens on December 25, which is the birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
These canteens will serve meals for just Rs 5.
The government has set aside Rs 100 crore for this project.
Each canteen will serve 500 meals in the morning and 500 in the evening.
The food will include dal-chawal, vegetables, and roti.
The canteens will have modern kitchens with special cooking systems and clean water facilities.
There will also be cameras to watch over the canteens to make sure everything is running smoothly.
More canteens will be opened in the future.
The government says this will help poor people and workers get affordable food.
Some people worry that the low price might make the food not very good.
100 Atal Canteens to be launched on December 25, Vajpayee's birth anniversary.
Each meal will cost Rs 5, subsidized by the Delhi government.
Rs 100 crore allocated in the Delhi Budget 2025-26 for these canteens.
Each canteen will serve 500 meals in the morning and 500 in the evening.
Canteens will be equipped with modern appliances, LPG-based cooking systems, industrial RO water facilities, and cold storage.
