NIA Court Denies Mumbai Police Custody of Anmol Bishnoi
A special court in India said no to Mumbai Police's request to take Anmol Bishnoi, who is in jail in Delhi, for questioning about a murder case.
The court said this because the central government has rules that keep Anmol in Delhi jail for a year.
Anmol is linked to a gangster and was brought back from the US.
The police wanted to question him about the murder of a former minister, but the court said no because of the government's rules.
A Special NIA court refused Mumbai Police's request for custody of Anmol Bishnoi for the Baba Siddiqui murder investigation.
The court cited a Home Ministry order restricting Bishnoi's movement outside Tihar Jail for one year.
Anmol Bishnoi is the brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and was deported from the US in 2025.
Mumbai Police sought custody to question Bishnoi about the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui.
The court concluded it could not override the Central Government's restriction on Bishnoi's movement.
