Pune Forest Land Transfer to be Completed in a Month, Says Collector
A housing society in Pune will have to give back forest land it was given because the Supreme Court said it was against the law.
The land was supposed to be used for farming, but was later sold to the society.
The court found this was not allowed because the land was supposed to stay as forest.
The government will now take the land back within a month, as there were no constructions or violations.
Pune district collector says transfer of forest land will be completed within a month.
Supreme Court quashed the 1998 land allotment to Richie Rich Cooperative Housing Society.
The land was originally for agriculture but was sold to the society in 2007.
The court found that the sale violated a ban on diverting forest land.
