Munneru-Palair Link Canal Project Progresses
The government is building a new canal called the Munneru-Palair Link Canal, which will be finished by January 2027.
This canal will take extra water from the Munneru River and send it to the Palair reservoir.
This will help farmers by giving water to their fields without using as much electricity.
It will also help make some electricity and protect areas from floods.
The minister said this project is important and will help a lot of people.
The government is also working on other projects like building a new college and a hospital.
Some people in the opposition are not happy and say the government is not doing a good job, but the government says they are working hard to help everyone.
The Munneru-Palair Link Canal project is expected to be completed by January 2027.
The ₹162.54-crore project will save ₹120 crore annually in electricity costs for the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project.
The 9.6-km canal will divert surplus floodwaters from the Munneru River to the Palair reservoir, stabilizing irrigation for 1.38 lakh acres downstream and 40,000 acres upstream.
The project will generate 2 MW of hydropower and mitigate flood risks in Khammam, Suryapet, and Mahbubabad districts.
The government is also launching other development projects, including a JNTU engineering college building and a 100-bed hospital.
