PVR INOX Opens Highest Multiplex in Leh
PVR INOX has opened a new multiplex in Leh, Ladakh, which is the highest in the country at 11,500 feet.
This is the first stationary cinema in the region, replacing a mobile cinema that was introduced in 2021.
The multiplex has two screens and features advanced technology like 2K projection and Dolby 7.1 sound.
The first film shown is 'Dhurandhar,' a Bollywood blockbuster.
The cinema has been well-received by locals, soldiers, and tourists, providing a new entertainment option during the cold winters.
However, some people are concerned that this might affect the local culture.
The Ladakh lieutenant governor has declared 'Dhurandhar' tax-free, as it was shot extensively in the region.
Meanwhile, 'Dhurandhar' has achieved significant box office success, becoming the first Bollywood movie to gross over ₹800 crore in India and over ₹1200 crore worldwide.
The makers have also announced a special ticket pricing offer for January 6, with tickets starting at ₹199.
