MP Warns Quantum Mission to Avoid Semiconductor Shortfalls
The government's plan to boost the semiconductor industry, called Semicon India, didn't create as many jobs as expected.
An MP named G. Kumar Naik is worried that the new National Quantum Mission (NQM) might have the same problems.
Semicon India was supposed to make a million jobs, but it looks like it will only create about 27,000.
The MP says that issues like being too controlled by the central government, setting unrealistic goals, and not having enough skilled workers slowed down the semiconductor plan.
He believes the new quantum technology mission should learn from these mistakes and allow states like Karnataka to take the lead and work together with the central government.
MP G. Kumar Naik expressed concern over the Semicon India initiative's underperformance.
The initiative's job creation forecast was significantly reduced from one million to just over 27,000.
Naik urged the government to avoid repeating the semiconductor sector's issues in the National Quantum Mission (NQM).
Centralization, timelines, and skill shortages were cited as factors hindering the semiconductor initiative.
Naik praised Karnataka's proactive steps and called for a cooperative federal model in the NQM.
