EPFO Claim Status and Settlement Timeline for Employees
If you have an EPF account, you can ask for your money back by filing a claim.
Online claims usually finish in about a week or ten days, while paper claims can take up to three weeks.
The EPFO sends you messages that show where your claim is: it might still be checked, the money might be moving, it might be finished, or it could be rejected if something is wrong.
If it takes longer than 20 days, you can complain on a special website.
You can also check your claim on the EPFO app, website, or by texting a short code.
The government has decided that EPF will earn 8.25% interest this year, which was added on July 15.
Online EPF claims are typically settled within 7–10 working days after KYC completion.
Offline claims can take up to 20 days; if unresolved, members may file a complaint at epfigms.gov.in.
Status codes: ‘Under Process’ (verification), ‘Payment Under Process’ (transfer initiated), ‘Settled Amount’ (credited), ‘Rejected’ (missing/mismatch info), ‘Pending at Field Office’ (awaiting verification), ‘Not Available’ (no claim found).
The Centre approved an 8.25% interest rate for EPF and VPF for FY26, credited on 15 July.
Claim status can be checked via the Umang app, EPFO portal, SMS (7738299899), or missed call.
