Mumbai Braces for Heavy Rain, Palghar Receives Orange Alert
The India Meteorological Department said Mumbai will get a lot of rain and thunderstorms, so they raised a warning.
Palghar, a nearby district, got an even higher warning for very heavy rain.
Other parts of Maharashtra also have warnings.
A big storm system over Odisha is making the rain stronger.
Mumbai already had a lot of rain in July, more than usual.
IMD upgraded Mumbai’s warning to yellow for thunderstorms and heavy rain.
Palghar district issued an orange alert for very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
Orange alerts also issued in Raigad, Dhule, Nashik, Nagpur, Amravati, and Pune ghats; yellow alerts in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune.
Meteorologists attribute the monsoon revival to a deep depression over Odisha, expected to shift southeast.
Mumbai recorded 1,490 mm of rainfall in July, exceeding its normal quota.
