Bombay High Court urges aggressive stray dog sterilisation in Maharashtra

Bombay High Court urges aggressive stray dog sterilisation in Maharashtra

There is a very important court in India called the Bombay High Court.

It takes care of the people living in a big state called Maharashtra, where many dogs live on the streets.

These street dogs are called stray dogs, and sometimes they can hurt people or spread a sickness called rabies.

The court is worried that there are too many stray dogs.

It told the government to work harder on a special plan called the Animal Birth Control Programme.

In this plan, adult dogs are sterilised, which means they cannot have puppies anymore.

The court said the government should stop catching puppies and instead sterilise the adult dogs.

If no new puppies are born, the number of stray dogs stops growing.

The court believes that stopping the growth solves most of the problem, and the next meeting about it will happen on September 11.
