Powai Residents Seek Review of Proposed GCC Over Infrastructure Concerns

Powai Residents Seek Review of Proposed GCC Over Infrastructure Concerns

Residents in Powai are worried about a proposed Global Capability Centre, or GCC.

They say it could bring almost 100,000 commuters and more than 20,000 vehicles into the area every day.

The residents believe Powai’s roads may not be large enough for that much traffic.

They are also concerned that traffic could slow ambulances and other emergency vehicles.

Schools, colleges and hospitals could be affected by the congestion.

The Powai Action Forum gave the development authority a petition signed by more than 2,000 people.

The residents said they are not against economic growth or new development.

They want the project to be reconsidered and planned alongside improvements to local infrastructure.
