India's Green Hydrogen Mission Faces Production Hurdles
India set out to become a world leader in making green hydrogen, which is clean energy.
They started a big plan in 2022 to make a lot of green hydrogen by 2030.
They planned to use this clean energy in factories, transportation, and other important industries to help reduce pollution.
Although many projects were announced, a lot of them haven't started yet.
This means India might not reach its goal to make a lot of green hydrogen.
Even though a lot of money was put into the plan, only a small amount of it is expected to be used soon.
India's Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in January 2022, aimed to make India a global hub for Green Hydrogen production.
The mission targets an annual production capacity of 5 million tonnes of Green Hydrogen by 2030.
Over 12 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of Green Hydrogen production capacity projects have been announced.
However, approximately 85% of the 164 projects are yet to be commissioned.
Only 5% of the initial budget of Rs 19,700 crore is estimated to be utilized by FY2026.
