Ladakh LG Promotes Pashmina as Cultural Treasure
Ladakh's Lieutenant Governor, Kavinder Gupta, visited a Pashmina goat farm to see how they take care of the special goats that make the famous Pashmina wool.
He said that Pashmina is not just a product but a part of Ladakh's culture and history.
The government is working to make sure the goats are healthy, the wool is of good quality, and the people who make Pashmina products can sell them all over the world.
They are also using new technology to track the goats and improve their care.
The goal is to help the people who raise these goats and make Ladakh known for its high-quality Pashmina wool.
Lt. Governor Kavinder Gupta visited Upshi Pashmina Goat Farm to review initiatives for strengthening Pashmina production.
Gupta emphasized the cultural significance of Ladakh Pashmina, calling it a treasure with centuries of heritage.
The administration is committed to scientific breeding, fodder banks, and veterinary care to support Pashmina goats.
Gupta directed the department to introduce GPS tracking, improved shearing techniques, and research-driven breed enhancement.
Efforts are being made to create stronger market linkages, branding initiatives, and certification mechanisms to prevent counterfeit products.
