Sheinbaum Rejects Foreign Interference as Mexico Revises Budget Outlook

Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, said other countries should not interfere in Mexico’s internal decisions.

She said Mexico wants to work with the United States as an equal partner.

She also said a poll found that 91 percent of people opposed foreign intervention.

At the same time, Mexico proposed an economic plan for 2027.

The plan expects slower growth in 2026 and 2027 than earlier forecasts suggested.

A private-sector economic research group said these new predictions are more realistic.

However, the group warned that Mexico could still face problems with public debt.

It also said some parts of the government’s budget may still be too optimistic.
